Legal Aid Surviving the Mortgage Crisis - Free Public Information Seminar
 | A public information forum for homeowners experiencing mortgage stress will be held at Parramatta Town Hall on Saturday 26 July 2008 (2pm – 5pm). Forums will be held in other centres in August and September (see below).
The forum will consist of a panel discussion with experts (2pm-3.30pm), face to face legal advice, and an information expo (3.30pm-5pm).
The forum is organised by Legal Aid NSW in partnership with the Consumer Credit Legal Centre, Credit Ombudsman Service Limited (COSL), Housing NSW, LawAccess NSW, Legal Aid NSW, Lifeline, Community Legal Centres, the Mortgage Assistance Scheme (MAS), and financial counselors.
The number of people seeking help about mortgage and financial stress has considerably increased over the last three years. People living in Western Sydney are seriously affected by this issue.
This forum will be helpful to anyone who is having trouble meeting their mortgage payments. It will include practical information on obtaining hardship variations and where homeowners can get help for this.
